Project Overview

Mission B is a pioneering environmental initiative by SRF (Swiss Radio and Television) aimed at promoting biodiversity across Switzerland. The platform serves as a digital hub where citizens can register their biodiversity-friendly spaces, discover inspiring projects, and contribute to a collective effort to protect and nurture natural habitats throughout the country.

Client Background

SRF, as Switzerland's leading public broadcaster, launched Mission B as part of their commitment to environmental awareness and citizen engagement. The initiative required a robust digital platform capable of handling nationwide participation while supporting Switzerland's multilingual population (German, French, Italian, and English).

Challenges

Creating a platform to mobilize an entire nation around biodiversity presented unique challenges. We needed to design an engaging experience that would motivate citizens to participate, build a scalable system capable of handling high traffic during media campaigns, implement accurate area registration and mapping functionality, support four languages with consistent user experience, and visualize collective impact to maintain community momentum.

Goals & Objectives

Create an accessible platform for citizens to register biodiversity areas
Provide inspiration and educational resources for biodiversity projects
Enable project discovery and community building among participants
Implement interactive mapping with real-time area calculations
Support four languages (DE, FR, IT, EN) with seamless switching
Track and display collective impact metrics prominently
